UPDATE: MARCH 17, 2020

Sadly, the Rugby Sportive due to take place in June, has been called off.

Everyone at Bath Rugby Foundation would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers for all their hard work in arranging this event.

The following message has been posted on the Rugby Sportive website and social media pages:

In view of the current uncertainty caused by Covid-19 the organisers of The Rugby Sportive have regretfully decided to postpone the Sportive planned for 7th June 2020 until later in the year.

We will be refunding the entry fees to all those who had already registered.

The team will continue to monitor the situation closely over the following months and at the point that we can reschedule the event with confidence we will be in touch with all of you.

We had already fixed the date for next year’s event on 6th June 2021….so put that date in your diaries, follow us on Facebook and keep on cycling!

A group of cyclists from the Bath area have decided to take the ‘best bits’ from each cycling event they’ve attended over the years and incorporate them all into their own event, ‘The Rugby Sportive’.

All routes will start and finish at Corsham Rugby Club on Sunday, June 7, 2020 and will pass a number of rugby clubs, some of which will be offering facilities for pitstops with both sweet and savoury offerings, together with plenty of hydration. Incidentally, you’ll pass several pubs along the way, it’s entirely up to you if you want to add your own pitstop!

Three stunning routes, (circa 86 - 61 - 25 miles) along scenic country lanes and through ‘chocolate box’ villages should cater for riders of all abilities. All riders will have chip timing so if you return on another occasion, you’ll be able to see how much you’ve improved...or not!

The event has been organised and will be run entirely by volunteers with all proceeds from the event going to Bath Rugby Foundation.

If you would like to bring family members there’s going to be all types of entertainment and refreshments on offer all day at Corsham Rugby Club, from face painting, fairground games, bouncy castles, indoor and outdoor bars, live music. Full details will be available in due course. We understand many of you will have to travel home after the sportive but please try to stay for an hour or so to unwind, listen to some music and enjoy a celebratory drink.

The organisers, Martin Smith and Mark Barnett, said: “It might be our first sportive, but we’re determined to do everything we can to make it the best and most enjoyable sportive you participate in during 2020.

“Come and see what we have to offer and join in the fun.”
