Race day six

6 Nations 60k - challenge completed!

The final race in the 6 Nations 60k Challenge took place on a lovely spring morning on Sunday (15th March) in rural France about 100 miles South East of Paris. The race was called La Panadiere and here’s a report from Anthony on how it went:

“On a lovely cool sunny spring morning in rural France the final race of the 6 Nations 60k challenge happened in a little town called Villemaur sur Vanne. Popular with local running clubs it was the first race of the year for the local running scene so a good turn out from lots of local French running clubs. There were about 500 runners for the 10K, Rachael ran it in 58:45 which is her quickest of the challenge by 1 second (!) and gave her 3rd place in her age group. I ran it in 48:13 which was my quickest time of the challenge and gave me 5th place in my age group. We’re both very pleased to have finished off with our fastest times.

"So that’s it, 6 Nations 60k Challenge completed! We’ve had a great time doing this, pleased that our bodies have survived and now looking forward to a rest! A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us with messages and donations.

"We’re thrilled to have raised almost £6,000 (with gift aid) for the two fantastic causes that we’ve chosen to fundraise for and knowing that this will help make a difference to lots of lives has made it all worthwhile.”

Race day five

6 Nations 60k – Well placed on the shores of Lake Maggiori

The Italian leg of the 6 Nations 60k Challenge was in the mountains in Northern Italy on Sunday (8th March 2026) with the successful completion of the Lake Maggiori 10K which was run along the edge of the lake. Here’s an update from Anthony on how it went:

“Race 5 of the 6 Nations 60k challenge was a fantastic run along the edge of Lake Maggiori with the mountains of Northern Italy providing a dramatic backdrop. It was a very well organised event and was combined with the Lake Maggiore Half Marathon so a large field of runners and with a real international feel to it. Weather was almost perfect, fairly cool to start with but some lovely spring sunshine, so quite warm by the end.

Just Rachael and I for this one and the number of runners for the 10K was approximately 600. Rachael ran it in 58:46 which is her quickest so far and gave her 4th place in her age group! I ran it in 49:03 which gave me 3rd place in my age group so we’re both really happy with those results and celebrated afterwards with delicious gelato!

“With one race to go, we’re on track to break the £5,000 mark with the fund raising which would be fantastic! So if you can spare a few quid please help us achieve this by donating this week to spur us into the French race next Sunday.”

Race day four

6 Nations 60k - English leg completed

The English leg of the 6 Nations 60k Challenge was in Dorset on Sunday (1st March 2026) with the successful completion of the Weymouth 10K along the Esplanade of this quintessential English seaside resort. Here’s an update from Anthony on how it went:

“Race 4 of the 6 Nations 60k challenge was a flat run along the beach front in Weymouth, out and back with about 400 runners. It had a good local feel to it with many local running clubs represented and lots of runners using it as training for the Weymouth Half later in March. Just Rachael and I this week, the rain abated just in time for the start, but a strong head wind on the out section made the run a bit more challenging.

"Not sure of our official times yet as they’re still being processed, but I did it in approximately 49 minutes and Rachael did it in approximately 58 minutes which we’re both pretty happy with - we seem to be getting a bit of consistency in our times now. Donations are still coming in regularly and we’re closing in on the £4,000 mark, but not quite there yet, so please donate if you can and hopefully we’ll be able to have reached that milestone as we head off “on tour” to Italy and France.”

Race day three

6 Nations 60k reaches the half way point

The 6 Nations 60k Challenge reached its half way point yesterday (22nd February 2026) with the successful completion of the Nenagh 10K in the rural setting of County Tipperary, Ireland. Here’s an update from Anthony on how it went:

“Race 3 of the 6 Nations 60k challenge was a fairly flat road run in the beautiful countryside of Nengah in Ireland, brilliantly organised by Just Race Events. As always in Ireland, we were made to feel very welcome, there was a great locals/family feel to the event and it stayed dry! There were around 500 runners for the 10K and we were joined by my son, Guy, who’s currently based in Dublin and his partner, Flo, who flew over from Barcelona.

"Much better times this week, I did it in 49:28 which gave me a 6th place finish in my age category, which I’m very happy with. Rachael did it in 58:50 which gave her a 7th place finish in her age category and was the first time she’s run a 10k in under an hour - great achievement! Donations are continuing to come in so we’re well on the way towards £4,000, please donate if you can and hopefully we’ll hit that target by the next race which is the English leg of the challenge in Weymouth next Sunday (1st March).”

Race day two

6 Nations 60k Race 2 (the toughest!) completed

Race 2 of the 6 Nations 60k happened yesterday (15th February 2026) in the hilly wilds of Caerphilly, Wales, here’s an update from Anthony on how it went:

“Race 2 of the 6 Nations 60k challenge was a gruelling trail run in Caerphilly, expertly organised by Ridge Runners – it was very wet, extremely muddy and lung bustingly hilly! There were around 400 runners for the 10K and we were joined by my daughter Lucy and her fiance, Billy, as fellow racers.

"So how did I do… well I ran it in 68:09 which considering it was almost impossible to run at times due to the steepness and slipperiness of the ascents, I’m pretty pleased with and it gave me a 12th finish in my age category. Most importantly though we have now raised over £3,000 for The Lewis Moody Foundation and Bath Rugby Foundation, which is great news! Our reward after long hot showers, was a trip into Cardiff to watch a masterclass in try scoring at the Six Nations clash between Wales and France.

"Over to Ireland next for the Nenagh 10k in County Tipperary, lots of travelling to get there and it might be a bit hilly but it’s on Tarmac! Please keep the donations coming, they really do help spur us on!”

Race day one

6 Nations 60k race 1 completed

Race 1 of the 6 Nations 60k happened yesterday (8th February 2026) in the wonderful city of Glasgow, here’s an update from Anthony on how it went:

“Great run in Glasgow to kick off the 6 Nations 60k challenge, brilliantly organised by Fix Events – even the rain stopped for the race! There were around 900 runners for the 10K and we were joined by family and friends as fellow racers and supporters:

So how did we do… well I ran it in 48:36 which I was very pleased with and put me 13th in my age category. Rachael ran it in 60:18 which gave her 15th place in her age category so a really great start. Most importantly though we have now raised over £2000 for The Lewis Moody and Bath Rugby Foundations!

"Caerphilly 10k trail run awaits us next, that’s going to be a much tougher challenge but we’re ready for it and if you keep the donations coming in it will really spur us on!”

Training update one

As the first race approaches, here’s an update from Anthony on his training progress:

“Having built up the running distance during December (including a Christmas Day run!) I completed my first 10k training run early in the New Year:

"Our annual ski trip looked like it was going to interrupt training so I decided to try something different – cross country skiing:

"It took a bit of getting used to and was exhausting, especially at altitude but definitely made up for not being able to run.

Back to pounding the pavements and paths now but I feel like I’m preparing well and will be ready for Glasgow on 8th February. Please make a donation if you can to help spur me on.”
