Apex Hotels Every guest at the Apex City of Bath Hotel is offered the chance to boost the fundraising efforts of Bath Rugby Foundation Expand The Apex City of Bath Hotel formed a partnership with Bath Rugby Foundation in 2018 sees hotel guests boost the charity for every night they stay in the city. Apex Hotels offers guests the chance to add £1 to their bill, which will then be donated to the Foundation. The Apex City of Bath Hotel is the city’s largest in terms of the number of bedrooms. It is also Bath’s only purpose-built city centre conference facility for up to 400 delegates. The four-star Apex City of Bath Hotel features 177 bedrooms, restaurant, bar, gymnasium and pool. Michael Musgrave General Manager at Apex City of Bath Hotel, said: “As a brand, Apex Hotels are always keen to support charities and initiatives both close to the company’s heart and within the communities we operate throughout the UK. “Here in Bath, we’re really pleased to be in a position to support the amazing work Bath Rugby Foundation carries out every day. 20% of children in Bath are living in poverty, a staggering statistic, so hopefully this can go some way to reducing that number.” Last year the hotel signed a partnership agreement with Bath Rugby. Jade Whale - Apprentice Jade joined the coaching team in October, having previously being a participant at the Foundation's HITZ Learning Academy Expand Jade recently joined the coaching team, but has been a regular fixture at the Foundation for over a year. Having left school in 2017, Jade joined the HITZ Learning Academy and quickly emerged as a young leader with huge potential. She then started volunteering with Bath Rugby Foundation two months in which she said ‘increased her confidence and leadership skills’. Jade has a sporting background having played football for both Westbury Youth FC and Trowbridge Town ladies in her school years. Before Jade joined the HITZ Learning Academy Jade admits that she "had no interest in rugby and didn’t want anything to do with it" but after participating in a few rugby sessions she started to get the hang of the game and became more interested in it. She now plays for Bath Rugby Ladies scoring two tries on her debut for the 2nd XV. During the time volunteering with the Foundation she has achieved many things such as being able to coach tennis with a tennis coach and learn new skills from her. In April Jade's image appeared on the limited-edition Bath Rugby shirts the players wore at The Clash. Ollie Ford - Apprentice Apprentice Ollie Ford joined Bath Rugby Foundation in October, taking his first steps onto the coaching ladder Expand Ollie was born in a small village just outside Bath called Midford where he played rugby with other village youngsters - cutting down dead trees and make them into rugby posts. He started playing rugby at the age of five, regularly watch Bath Rugby at the Rec and signed up to play for Bath Rugby’s youth team. Before starting at Bath Rugby Foundation he went travelling to the Southern Hemisphere, taking in New Zealand, Australia, Bali and Thailand. New Zealand was his favourite country, mainly because of all the rugby culture that exists in All Black territory. Ollie use to play Cricket and Tennis during the summer and Rugby during the winter. "I have always been interested in teaching and I think that is because my mum is a special needs teacher. I've been brought up with teaching. "Since I started at Bath Rugby Foundation, I've really enjoyed meeting and coaching the different groups of young people we are working with." Email Ollie

So please encourage them to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form when they sponsor you. Without these details we legally can't claim Gift Aid.

How long does the declaration last for? Expand We will continue to claim Gift Aid until you tell us otherwise, so long as you are eligible. The declaration wording normally covers present, future and past donations. We can also back-claim four years!

Do I qualify for Gift Aid? Stuart Doughty Chairman of board of trustees Expand Stuart Doughty have been involved in financial services since leaving school at age 18 and have been advising clients since 1992. Stuart is a Financial Planner and co-owner of Centurion Chartered Financial Planners which acts for Private Clients and Vulnerable clients throughout the UK. In his spare time Stuart takes part in multi-day ultra-events to keep focussed and raise money for charity with a goal to raise £1 million from all the events he has taken part in before he retires – and is just over 60% of the way there. He said: "I have been a Trustee at Bath Rugby Foundation since July 2012 as part of my desire to make a difference in our community. "The charity’s return to central Bath and being involved with the Stadium redevelopment to drive positive change in our community makes this an incredibly exciting and dynamic time to be at Bath Rugby Foundation. "Our children remind us of the importance of community, but councils and state schools are underfunded therefore charities within Bath have a huge part to play in providing support mechanisms through coaching and mentoring. "Bath Rugby Foundation with its iconic location is at the forefront of this support using sport as the catalyst."
Lee Mears People Development Trustee Expand Having represented England 43 times and played for the British and Irish Lions in 2009, Lee proudly points out one of his biggest rugby achievements is the enjoyment of a 16 year professional rugby career at his one and only childhood club in the wonderful city of Bath. Lee considers him self a part of the furniture and was honoured to be asked to join Bath Rugby Foundation's board of trustees. Still living in the city with his wife and three boys he realises that, having received so much support from the city, the chance to give back while trying to impact as many people as possible is something that he is massively passionate about. “Bath Rugby Foundation is a wonderful charity that looks to shine a light on the issues that many people here in Bath do not realise exist, such as poverty and inactivity,” said Lee.
Colin Marshall HR Trustee Expand Colin Marshall started his first company in 1997, and today still runs Marshall Airway Products Ltd, a medical company specialising in single use hospital products. He has an MBNA in European Marketing and a wide contact base across Bath and surrounding areas. Colin brings his Marketing weight to the team – supporting the Foundation in creating compelling Marketing campaigns to raise necessary funds to support vulnerable local people.
Christopher Potter Represents Bath Rugby’s owner on the board of trustees Expand Christopher Potter became a Trustee of Bath Rugby Foundation in 2012. Chris was educated in England and France. He has an LLB from King’s College London as well as a Master of Law degree and a DEA post-graduate degree from the University of Paris-Sorbonne. He was in private practice as a French avocat until 2010, specialising in French and international taxation, cross-border investments and leveraged acquisitions. He also advised clients on real estate investments and the formation and structure of investment funds. He brings this extensive international experience to the Foundation, consulting on legal and safeguarding matters.
Claire Taylor Education Trustee Expand Claire is headteacher of a successful School in Bath. Prior to leading Widcombe CoE Junior School, she gained experience working in a range of schools in Buckinghamshire and South Gloucestershire. Part of her responsibility is as a member of the Executive Leadership Team within the Palladian Academy Trust, which involves strategically planning for the educational provision of over 3,000 students within the city. From an early age, and motivated by great school experiences, Claire knew she wanted to be involved in education and play a part in providing young people with an inspiring, engaging and forward-facing school curriculum. She passionately believes that a positive start for young people, which is full of opportunity and delivered by those who have a genuine care and interest in each individual is critical to developing healthy levels of self-belief and ambition. This philosophy mirrors the Values of Bath Rugby Foundation, of which Claire is very proud to be involved with.
Emma Haines Fundraising Trustee Expand Emma has over fifteen years’ experience leading Fundraising and Marketing teams within the charity sector, most recently at the University of Bath and Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. Prior to this Emma worked in the pharmaceutical industry, in both sales and healthcare innovation. Emma has Full (MInstF) Membership of the Institute of Fundraising. "Returning to Bath, having spent the last 15 years in the South East, I was excited about coming home and knew I wanted to give something back to the community that I was once again going to be a part of. "Being a Trustee of Bath Rugby Foundation combines my passion for Bath, fundraising and of course rugby - I grew up with a rugby-playing Dad and can frequently be found cheering on my son from the sidelines. "I am proud to support and contribute to the Foundation’s aim of providing equal opportunities for all children and young people in and around the city.”
Louise Harvey Community and Impact Trustee Expand Louise is Director of Funding and Impact at St John’s Foundation; a role that is diverse and principally manages the operational delivery of the Foundation. A key member of St John’s since 2003, she leads the Foundation’s £2m annual Funding Support Programme, and the Independent Living and Community Outreach Services. Louise has worked extensively across the Third Sector. She has wide-ranging experience and knowledge of the needs of people and communities in Bath and the surrounding area and she excels at building relationships and working with charities, individuals and like-minded organisations to create sustainable long-term solutions. Louise demonstrates strong leadership, and guides the work the Foundation delivers through its almshouses, Community Outreach and Independent Living Services. Operationally, Louise led the design and implementation of Salesforce, a dynamic, user-friendly funding programme, which has enabled the Foundation to increase its annual Funding Awards from £400k to £2m, helping to support thousands of beneficiaries across Bath and the surrounding area.
Tarquin McDonald Represents Bath Rugby on the board of trustees Expand Tarquin spent 7 years at KPMG in finance and corporate finance roles, working on a wide range of projects. He subsequently spent 5 years in a Private Equity backed business before joining Bath Rugby in 2012, initially as Finance and Strategy Director, then as Managing Director from 2014, before taking on the Chief Executive role in 2016. Tarquin provides a strategic mind-set, and believes passionately in the power of sport to inspire and change lives.
