Latest news Army visit helps students explore future career pathways We believe education is about more than what happens in the classroom. It's about helping young people discover what's possible beyond education and giving them the confidence, skills and aspirations to take their next steps towards employment, training or further education. That's why we recently welcomed Corporal Lewis White (PARA) from the Bristol Army Recruitment Office for an engaging careers session designed to broaden horizons and inspire future ambitions. Lewis shared his own career journey within the Army, spoke openly about the opportunities available through military service, and gave learners the chance to ask questions, explore equipment and gain first-hand insight into a career pathway they may not have previously considered. The visit was organised by Tutor Annie, following a successful session delivered to our Year 1 cohort last year. Building on that positive experience, Annie was keen to provide another opportunity for learners to hear directly from a professional working in a sector that offers a wide range of career and training opportunities. For the young people we support, exposure to different professions and industries can play a vital role in shaping their future ambitions. By bringing employers, professionals and organisations into the Alternative Learning Hub, we help learners understand the opportunities available to them beyond education and encourage them to think positively about their next steps. Whether that's employment, apprenticeships, vocational training, further education or other pathways, these experiences help young people make informed decisions about their futures while building the confidence and independence needed to achieve their goals. Students enjoyed Lewis' compelling presentation, honest conversation and personal approach, with many taking the opportunity to learn more about life in the Army and the skills required to pursue a military career. We would like to thank Lewis for giving up his time to support our learners and share his experiences. Could you inspire our learners? We are always looking to connect with individuals, businesses and organisations willing to share their career journeys, industry knowledge and experiences with our students. Whether you work in construction, healthcare, engineering, hospitality, technology, the creative industries, public services, sport or any other sector, your story could help a young person discover a pathway they had never previously considered. By volunteering your time, you can help broaden aspirations, challenge perceptions and inspire the next generation as they prepare for life beyond education. If you would be interested in speaking to our learners, we'd love to hear from you. Contact us at: [email protected] Manage Cookie Preferences
