Latest news Over 100 young people joined our Junior Foundation Cup at Melksham RFC We were proud to host our first ever Junior Foundation Cup today at Melksham RFC, bringing together over 100 young people from across Bath & North East Somerset, Somerset, and Wiltshire for a day of inclusive rugby. The event welcomed Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students from schools the Foundation has worked with throughout the academic year, many of whom have been engaged through Project Rugby. For a large number of those attending - particularly young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) - this marked their first ever experience of taking part in a rugby competition. Held at Melksham RFC, the day was a celebration of inclusion, confidence, and community. Players took to the pitch in a supportive and encouraging environment, showcasing the skills they have developed over months of sessions while enjoying the opportunity to represent their schools. The atmosphere throughout the day reflected the true spirit of inclusive rugby, with teammates, teachers, coaches, and supporters coming together to celebrate every pass, try, and moment of progress. At the end of the tournament, medals were awarded to teams finishing in first, second, and third place, with every participant also receiving a medal in recognition of their effort, commitment, and achievement. The Junior Foundation Cup represents a key milestone for many of the young people involved; an opportunity to step into a community setting, build confidence, and experience the sense of belonging that sport can provide. Events like this are a powerful reminder of the role inclusive rugby can play in bringing communities together, breaking down barriers, and creating opportunities for young people of all abilities to thrive. We would like to thank Melksham RFC for hosting, as well as the schools, staff, and supporters who made the day such a success. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to create inclusive opportunities for young people across the region.
