The Foundation Cup returns to Melksham for 2026

Bath Rugby Foundation is proud to once again be working in partnership with Melksham RFC and the Melksham Stags to deliver The Foundation Cup - one of the largest inclusive rugby events of its kind.

Following the success of last year’s event, which welcomed hundreds of spectators and showcased the very best of inclusive rugby, preparations are well underway to make 2026 even bigger and more impactful.

This year, the event will welcome 14 teams from across the UK, with sides competing in both the Mixed Contact Tournament and the Mixed Gender Touch Tournament. Bringing together players of all abilities, backgrounds, and experiences, The Foundation Cup is designed to break down barriers and ensure everyone has the opportunity to take part in rugby.

Taking place on Saturday 2nd May 2026 at Melksham Rugby Club, with matches starting from 11am, the day will be a celebration of inclusion, teamwork, and community spirit both on and off the pitch.

Alongside the main event, Bath Rugby Foundation will also deliver The Foundation Junior Cup on Friday 1st May, hosted at Melksham RFC.

In the lead-up to the Junior Cup, the Foundation has been working with schools and young people through Project Rugby, delivering sessions throughout the year to build confidence, develop skills, and foster a sense of belonging through sport. The Junior Cup represents a key milestone in that journey, with many participants taking part in their first ever community rugby event - a powerful moment that highlights the importance of inclusive opportunities.

Alongside the rugby, a vibrant fan zone will run throughout Saturday’s event, offering food and drink, family-friendly activities, and entertainment - creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for players, families, and supporters alike.

Melksham RFC and the Melksham Stags continue to play a leading role in bringing The Foundation Cup to life, and Bath Rugby Foundation is proud to support and work alongside them to deliver an event that places inclusion firmly at its heart.
