Just a year ago, many of the young people at our Alternative Learning Hub had been out of mainstream education for 18 months or more. Some had become completely disengaged from learning. Others had never sat an exam before and couldn't imagine a positive future in education.

This summer, every single learner sat their Functional Skills Maths and English exams.

For many young people, sitting an exam is simply part of growing up. For our young people, it represents resilience, determination and the confidence to believe in themselves again.

We couldn't be prouder.

This achievement hasn't happened overnight. It has been built through patience, trust and relationships.

Our dedicated tutors have worked tirelessly to rebuild confidence, delivering learning in small groups and providing one-to-one support whenever it was needed. Every young person is different, so our team has adapted their approach to make learning accessible, engaging and achievable for everyone.

Alongside this, we've worked closely with families and referring schools to make sure every participant had the support they needed before, during and after their exams, helping what could have been an overwhelming experience become a positive and achievable milestone.

For some, simply walking into the exam room was something they never believed they'd be able to do.

Today, 100% of our learners have sat their exams.

Some of our learners are now completing exam resits, with results expected over the coming weeks. Providing they achieve their Functional Skills qualifications, every learner has a planned next step into further education, employment or training this September.

That achievement is even more significant when you consider that 1.012 million young people aged 16–24 across the UK are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET). Every young person who finds a positive pathway represents a life changed - and a step towards breaking that trend.

These young people have done far more than prepare for exams. They have rebuilt confidence, developed resilience, strengthened their communication skills and begun to believe in a future that once felt out of reach.

None of this happens without support.

Every donation, every employer who offers work experience, every volunteer who shares their career journey and every business that opens its doors helps create opportunities that many of these young people never thought were possible.

This is what your support makes possible.

Together, we're helping young people move from disengagement to ambition, from uncertainty to opportunity, and from being at risk of becoming NEET to building brighter futures.

If you'd like to help more young people achieve milestones like this - whether by donating, volunteering your expertise, offering work experience or supporting our Alternative Learning Hub - we'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for believing in our young people. We look forward to sharing their exam results with you over the coming weeks.
