BreakOut Summer Camp success: Building confidence and friendships The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as young participants gathered at Welton Primary School for another vibrant session of Bath Rugby Foundation’s BreakOut Summer Camp. Running until Friday, 30th August, the five-week holiday camp has proven to be a resounding success, providing local children with a mix of sports, creativity, education, and friendship. Initially, he seemed a little shy, and our Communications Manager noticed him playing alone. Seizing the opportunity to make him feel more included, she invited him to assist her as a photographer for the day. What began as a simple act of kindness quickly turned into an enriching learning experience. Joined by another participant, the two budding photographers spent the day capturing the energy and joy of their peers. They learned about framing shots, focusing, and the art of storytelling through images—skills that they will undoubtedly take forward with them. More than just a Summer Camp The BreakOut Summer Camps are not just about keeping kids active during the holidays. They’re designed to impart valuable life skills through sports and educational activities, aiming to boost confidence, encourage teamwork, and foster a sense of belonging. From rugby drills to creative workshops, each session is carefully crafted to ensure that every child can learn something new, all while having fun. The programme, hosted at Welton and Castle Primary Schools, has received glowing feedback from both parents and participants. "It’s amazing to see how much the children have grown in just a few days," said one of the camp organisers. "They’re not just learning new skills; they’re building friendships and discovering their own strengths." Looking Ahead As the summer continues, our BreakOut Camp is set to provide even more opportunities for young people to thrive. With a few weeks left before the final session on 30th August, we are looking forward to welcoming more children and creating more experiences for our young people. Bath Rugby Foundation's BreakOut Summer Camp is more than just a holiday programme; it’s a place where young people can break out of their shells, try new things, and build lasting memories. And for those who have attended, it’s clear that these experiences are leaving a lasting impression.
