Bath Rugby Foundation launches new HITZ course for youngsters interested in career in sports industry Bath Rugby Foundation will launch a new course for young people hoping to move on to a career in the sports industry. The Level 1 Active IQ in Fitness Instructing Qualification will be delivered from our state of the art classroom at the Bath Rec Sports Hub, at Bath Rugby Stadium. With support from our friends at Fitness First Bath, GLL BETTER Bath and Bath Rugby, we are able to provide a wealth of outstanding facilities and knowledge where our students can learn and develop. The HITZ Rugby course kicks off in February, but applications from potential students are being accepted now. If you would like to enrol, get in touch now. The new 18-week course will see participants gain a Level 2 Extended Certificate in Employability Skills on completion, alongside advancing many of the skills needed for future employment. The new course is in partnership with GLL and Fitness First, where much of the programme will be delivered to students. Participants will also see the opportunity to use the first-class facilities and professional gym at Farleigh House, where the Bath Rugby team train. Enrolment for the course officially commences on February 28, however due to our limited capacity, we urge any young person who wishes to take part in the course, to register interest with us as soon as possible. There will be an opportunity for a ‘soft start’ for those young people who may struggle or be anxious with the enrolment process, this would include coming into HITZ for a flexible period of time before the course starts to familiarise themselves with the people and environment. There will be an open day here at the Rec on Friday November 30, where young people, families, agencies and businesses are welcome to experience the HITZ Learning Academy and obtain further information. Our core offer, the HITZ Learning Academy, offers a relaxed environment targeted at 16-18 year olds to improve their functional maths and English, develop valuable life skills and gain important qualifications alongside experience from work placements and employer-led sessions. The programme also offers essential enrichment and sporting activities which supports the development of the whole individual through not only improving their mental but physical wellbeing as well. Participants in the HITZ programme regularly report an increase in resilience, self-confidence and aspiration as a result of their involvement, and over 70% go on to achieve a positive progression into further education, training or employment.HITZ is funded by partners Land Rover, Comic Relief and Wooden Spoon.
