Meet Claire Taylor ..

Claire is Headteacher of a successful School in Bath. Prior to leading St Stephen's School, Claire was Headteacher of Widcombe CoE Junior School, she has also previously gained experience working in a range of schools in Buckinghamshire and South Gloucestershire.

Part of her responsibility is as a member of the Executive Leadership Team within the Palladian Academy Trust, which involves strategically planning for the educational provision of over 3,000 students within the city.

From an early age, and motivated by her very own great school experiences, Claire knew she wanted to be involved in education and play a part in providing young people with an inspirational and engaging learning journey.

During school holidays, she loves to travel; she enjoys taking sailing trips in the summer months, travelling around European islands and is also partial to attending the occasional gig, musical theatre performance and of course a live rugby match or two.

Claire has signed up to run the Bath Half Marathon in 2022 to raise funds for BRF. She isn’t a regular runner, so this is a clear example of just how committed Claire is to her Trustee role.

Why did Claire want to become a Trustee of Bath Rugby Foundation?

Claire was inspired to join the Bath Rugby Foundation Board of Trustees after the Foundation’s delivery team had delivered a successful ‘growth mindset’ programme to a group of children at her school. The feedback that she received from the children, the teachers and parents led her to realise that what the Foundation has to offer the community is something very special indeed and she knew from then that this was an opportunity for her to give back by offering her education sector knowledge and expertise to make a positive difference. Claire knows first-hand from her role as a headteacher, the difference that a good start in life can make. Claire heads up the charity’s Safeguarding Committee which feeds into the main Board.

How does Claire wish to add most value to the Foundation as a Trustee?

Claire would like to ensure that she helps to give everyone the confidence and conviction within Bath Rugby Foundation to follow their hearts when it comes to delivering the right programmes to young people within the community. She feels that Bath Rugby Foundation already processes all the right fundamentals to lead the change and she’s pleased to support the charity on its onward journey.

What are Claire’s hopes and aspirations for the future of Bath Rugby Foundation…

Claire believes that Bath Rugby Foundation can become the go-to organisation’ that headteachers and other senior leaders in school and community settings can pick up the phone to and ask for the support and expertise that the charity is able to offer. Claire looks forward to the day that Bath Rugby Foundation has that sort of available capacity and resource. Claire strongly believes that by everyone pulling together, this vision can become a reality in the very near future.
